It became one of the most important texts in Mahayana literature, which was and is of the utmost importance for practicing Buddhists. It can be said that of all the religious scriptures in the Mahayana Buddhist tradition that outline the developmental path of a bodhisattva, Shantideva's <\/span>\"Living in the spirit of enlightenment\"<\/span> and <\/span>Nagarjunas<\/span><\/a> \"Precious wreath\" are the two basic texts.\" *1)<\/a><\/span><\/div>\n

His Holiness the Dalai Lama said, \"Shantideva wrote his text in the form of an inner dialog. He turned his own guns on himself and fought with his negative emotions. So when we teach or listen to this text, it is important that we do so in order to progress spiritually, rather than simply making it the subject of academic study.\" *1)<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

The first German translation of the \"Bodhisattvacharyavatara\" from the Tibetan was published by Theseus Verlag in 2004, translated by Jobst Koss, who later worked for some time in the translation team of His Holiness the XVII Karmapa. As Shantideva's work is also known in all four Tibetan Buddhist schools today<\/span> is still considered to be of the utmost importance and repeatedly serves as the basis for teachings by Buddhist teachers, the Kagyu Dharma Publishing House has decided to publish a new edition with minor changes.<\/span><\/p>\n
