Escape over the Himalayas

"When mothers send their children into exile over the highest mountains in the world without knowing whether they will ever see each other again, something must be wrong in the snow country " Around 1000 children from Tibet flee over the icy passes of the Himalayas every year. Often they can hardly go any further and fight against snow, hunger and exhaustion. Their destination is the Dalai Lama's schools in northern India. There, their parents hope, a better, freer future awaits them. The dedicated documentary filmmaker Maria Blumencron accompanied six children on their escape. With her adventurous, compassionately told story, she also draws attention to the grievances in occupied Tibet.
