Norbu Publishing 2019, hardcover
This detailed biographical compilation provides a reliable guide to the life and work of the Buddhist master Djetsün Gampopa (1079 - 1153). It makes Gampopa appear before our inner eye as an inspiring role model and is also a treasure chest of blessed teachings. For this biography, five Tibetan sources have been cross-referenced and incorporated.
Until now, little is known about Gampopa, an important founder of the Tibetan Kagyu tradition. He is known to have combined the gradual path of the Kadampa tradition with Vajrayana and Mahamudra practice. In doing so, he shaped a new style of teaching in Tibet: He gradually introduced most disciples to Mahamudra practice on the gradual path and also taught them the methods of Vajrayana.
