Two life fates and a journey in the Bardo
The Tibetan merchant Dorjee Wangchuck and the Rinpoche Sonam Tsering have had a deep friendship since childhood, even though their lives could not have been more different. While one made his way in the maelstrom of history and amassed a fortune, the other chose to live in a monastery.
When old Dorjee is dying, he sends for his friend with the request to read him the Bardo Thödol, the Tibetan Book of the Dead. This is supposed to guide him on the way to rebirth through the Bardo, the intermediate world. But everything depends on how he has led his life. Will Dorjee be reborn at the end of his journey through the intermediate world, or must he remain there?
